“It’s not easy being today’s parents!” We believe this is a shared view amongst many parents. Although today’s parents are focusing on nurturing only 1-2 children, they tend to spend more time and efforts compared to parents in the past with more children. Why? With the society constantly evolving, today’s parents have higher expectations for their children. Apart from wishing them to be healthy and happy, parents also wish to uplift their children’s future competitiveness via good education.

Although many parents in Hong Kong are quite willing to spend on children education, up to 63.5% of children aged 5-14 still have no medical cover1. It is mainly due to the high premium while no direct consultation with paediatricians is allowed unless with the referral from general practitioners. Thus, many parents would rather pay for the specialist consultations at their own expenses than delay treatment to their children. Surprisingly, these loving parents would choose to queue up a few hours at public hospitals in the event of minor accidents, instead of going to private hospitals for treatment. The answer is simple, it is because they have the worry that the medical expenses would be substantially higher than what they could afford.

We understand that being a parent, you might have the same concern. With our new and comprehensive “Grade A Parental Care Series”, we promise to provide your children the right diagnosis and treatment promptly in the event of accidents. Take action now! Enrol in the “Grade A Parental Care Series”, give your beloved children the Grade A care and protection!

Children tend to be active and energetic, they are usually curious and explorative enough to cause themselves accidents at any moment. According to the Hospital Authority statistics 2006-08, home accidents such as falls, burns and scalds caused more than 26,000 child attendances at the accident & emergency departments every year, of which approximately 8.6 children daily required hospitalisation for their injuries2.

The most common home accidents include bumping into objects, being caught by doors of the house/room/cupboard, falling from bed/chair, being choked by food when eating, falling on the ground, slipping in bathroom, as well as injuries caused by fighting with siblings or other children. “Grade A Parental Care Series” is designed and tailor-made for today’s students, it offers the basic cover of accidental medical expenses as well as a number of first-ever benefits that provide your children with the thoughtful Grade A protection.

Dental Treatment
Children tend to hide their grin during tooth transition period as they avoid teasing from other people for their “teethless” appearance. Thus, any loss of permanent teeth caused by accidental injury might have long term psychological impact on children. In view of this, the Dental Treatment Benefit offered by this plan helps subsidise insured children to receive the necessary dental implant or denture prosthodontic treatment and regain their innocent smiles.
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
For serious injuries, such as burns, scalds or traffic accidents, scars remain noticeable after treatment completion and might even affect people’s appearance in some cases. To help children continue their healthy development physically as well as psychologically and overcome any self-abasement due to scars or damaged appearance, this plan allows children to restore their normal appearance through surgery or receive scar management treatment from specialists with referrals, so that they can regain their confidence by minimising their scars from injuries.
Trauma Counselling
Apart from the physical trauma, serious accidents might also bring children the psychological trauma which eventually becomes a permanent shadow. To help afflicted children overcome their psychological barriers and inner fears, the Trauma Counselling Benefit offered by this plan allows children to receive treatment for the psychological trauma caused by accident and resume their healthy and happy lives.
Heatstroke Allowance
The summertime in Hong Kong has become longer and hotter in recent years. The Hong Kong Observatory issues the Very Hot Weather Warnings from time to time to alert members of the public for the risk of heatstroke. Children who like outdoor activities are more susceptible to heatstroke. The Heatstroke Allowance Benefit offered by this plan helps subsidise the inpatient and outpatient medical expenses incurred for the relief of heatstroke.
Tutorial Allowance
For children who require to take 15 consecutive days of sick leave or more for their accidental injuries, the learning progress at school could be hindered substantially. To help children catch up on their work and resume happy school lives, the Tutorial Allowance offered by this plan provides a one-off payment to help subsidise the relevant expenses incurred for children taking tutorial classes during the convalescence period.
Companion Bed
Young children cling to their parents particularly when they have to stay in hospital on their own with unfamiliar environment. Most parents prefer staying in hospital with their children and take good care of them whenever possible. In view of this, the Companion Bed Benefit offered by this plan helps subsidise the expenses incurred when parents accompany their children during hospital confinement.
