It's difficult to foresee an accident or illness, not to mention the costs associated with hospital treatment and confinement. However, even if you have medical insurance to cover hospital bills, you may encounter expenses that you never expected.

To help you and your family avoid unnecessary emotional and financial burdens, you need sufficient coverage during and after hospitalisation. The Hospital Cash Protection Plan promises to pay you daily cash on top of the benefits you receive from other insurance plans, so you can enjoy a worry-free recovery.

Application & Underwriting Process
 
Q:   How can the customer apply for "Hospital Cash Protection Plan"?
 
A:   Customer can visit any BEA branch to complete an application form, pay the premium and return the form to apply for Hospital Cash Protection Plan.
 
 
Q:   Can a child apply this plan by himself/herself?
 
A:   No, a child can only apply if their parents already joined this plan.
 
 
Q:   Is there any medical check-up required for applying this Insurance?
 
A:   No medical check-up will be required for this insurance. If customer declared any illness in the application form, we will then request the customer to provide the respective information as detailed as possible. Underwriting decision will be made upon the information provided.
 
 
Q:   How long does it take to approve/process the "Hospital Cash Protection Plan"?
 
A:   It will take 3 working days to issue a Policy for an approved case. If the application is not complete and/or additional information, medical or non-medical is required, the issuance of Policy will depend on the completion of the requirements.
 
 
Q:   What would be the eligible age limit for applying the "Hospital Cash Protection Plan"?
 
A:   The eligible age should be aged between 15 days and 55. Furthermore, no coverage shall be renewed for the insurer whose age is over 64 at the time of policy renewal.
 
 
Q:   How to determine the age of an insured person in this medical plan?
 
A:   It is counted by using "Age Next Birthday".
e.g. an insured person whose birthday is 01/01/1980, and the policy effective date is 01/04/2001. He/She will be counted as aged 21.
e.g. an insured person whose birthday is 01/01/1980, and the policy effective date is 01/08/2001. He/She will be counted as aged 22.

Q:   What are the benefits included in "Hospital Cash Protection Plan"?
 
A:   It offers:
   Daily Hospital Cash Benefit
 Double Cash Benefit for Intensive Care / Infectious Diseases
 Accidental Death Benefit
 Health Tonic Benefit

 
Q:   This plan provides the insured person with daily cash coverage if hospitalised. How to define the duration of 1 day?
 
A:   The insured person should be hospitalised for 12 hours or above.
 
 
Q:   What is/are the benefit(s) provided by "Health Tonic Benefit"?
 
A:   If the insured person has been confined to the hospital for 20 consecutive days or more, a lump sum benefit equal to 10 times the daily cash benefit will be provided.
 
 
Q:   What are the Specific Infectious Diseases?
 
A:   They are: SARS, Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever, Malaria, Chloera, Meningococcal Infection, Tetanus, Legionnaires' Disease, Plague, Rabies, Avian Influenza, Japanese Viral Encephalitis, Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.
 
 
Q:   Any waiting period should be applied in this policy?
 
A:   There is no waiting period for most of the diseases. However, it can be applied to some serious diseases. For example, there is a 6 months waiting period for diabetes mellitus, and cataracts has got a 12 months waiting period.
 
 
Q:   Would benefits be paid for hospitalisation resulted from AIDS?
 
A:   Benefits would be paid if the policy remains in force for over 5 years.
 
 
Premium Payment
 
Q:   What kind of payment modes and payment method does the plan offer?
 
A:   Premium of "Hospital Cash Protection Plan" can be settled by:
Monthly payment : Autopay through credit card or bank account.
Semi-Annual / Annual payment : Cash, cheque, autopay through credit card or bank account.

 
 
Claim Procedures
 
Q:   Is the maximum number of days for Daily Hospital Cash Benefit only got 730 days?
 
A:   Each disability has got 730 days as the maximum number of days for this benefit.
 
 
Q:   If an insured person suffered an accidental injury resulting in his/her death, such death occurred after 100 days of such accidental injury. Will the Accidental Death Benefit be paid or not?
 
A:   No. The Accidental Death Benefit will only be paid if such death occur within 90 days of such accidental injury.
 
 
Q:   What will be the necessary procedures for submitting an accidental death claim?
 
A:   The claimant / appointed beneficiary has to submit the death claim form, original Death Certificate, original policy and ID copies of the claimant / beneficiary and the deceased.
 
 
Q:   Any time limitation in submitting a claim of "Daily Hospital Cash Benefit" or "Health Tonic Benefit"?
 
A:   Within 30 days immediately following the event(s) giving rise to a disability and claimable expenses, the insured shall give written notice to the company stating full particulars of such event.
 
 
Q:   When will benefit be paid when a claim has been submitted?
 
A:   Within 7 working days after the completion of requirements of claims, such as all certificates,
information and evidence required by the Company shall be furnished.
