Basic Hospital and Surgical Benefits

Reimburse hospital and surgical expenses due to accident or sickness:

Daily Cash Benefits

You are entitled to daily cash benefits if you are confined in the general ward of government hospital in Hong Kong.

Post-Surgical Care

You can receive post-surgical care from both registered physicians and Chinese medicine practitioners.

24-hour Blue Cross Worldwide Emergency Aid

Whilst travelling abroad, you can call the "Blue Cross Worldwide Emergency Aid 24-hour Alarm Centre" to receive professional medical, legal and travel advice and services anywhere in the world.

Emergency Medical Assistance in China

In case of emergency requiring hospitalisation in China, simply present the "Medpass Card" and you will be able to access a network of over 100 hospitals or medical units without paying any deposits.

Free Coverage for Newborn Child

If you have the whole family covered under one policy, your newly born child will be covered under the Basic Hospital & Surgical Plan from the age of 15 days, till the next policy renewal date.

Companion Bed for Child

Companion bed will be provided if your child is confined in the hospital.

FREE Personal Accident Coverage for Child

If you have added the Optional Personal Accidental Benefits, your children aged 6 or below will be entitled the benefit for FREE provided that they are covered under the Basic Hospital and Surgical Plan.

Annual Check-up Programme For Free*

Blue Cross "Annual Health Check-up Programme", is designed to detect early diseases and identify risk factors of your health.

* Free check-up service is available at laboratory centres designated by Blue Cross and entitlement to which is subject to policy issuance and renewal.


Optional Benefits

Optional Major Medical Benefits

You may choose to increase your coverage to pay for excessive medical expenses not covered under your basic plan.

Optional Outpatient Benefits

  • Reimburse clinical expenses and pay physiotherapist or chiropractic treatments, diagnostic x-rays & laboratory tests and specialist's consultation benefits upon written referral by doctor.
  • Cover treatments by Chinese medicine practitioner (including bonesetting and acupuncture).
  • Use Blue Cross Healthcare Card in network clinics for outpatient and specialist's consultation if premium is paid annually. Co-payment may be required for designated plan.

Optional Personal Accident Benefits

Accidental death or disablement will be covered.

Eligible Age

The maximum age eligible for application is 65. The coverage is renewable up to 75 years old.

Major Exclusions

1 Purchase of drugs, treatment or tests which are not Medically Necessary; or are not prescribed; or not performed by a Registered Medical Practitioner.
2 Hospitalisation solely for the purpose of general checkup, diagnostic X-Ray, Advanced imaging, Laboratory tests or Physiotherapy.
3 Treatment for Congenital or Developmental Conditions or disease of any kind.
4 Pre-existing Conditions.
5 Expenses directly or indirectly arising from Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and its related Disability, including Acquired Immunization Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and / or any mutations, derivation or variations thereof, consequential upon an HIV infection occurring before the effective date of coverage applicable to such insured.
6 Treatment or disability directly or indirectly arising from or consequent upon: the abuse of drugs or alcohol, self-inflicted injuries or attempted suicide, illegal activity, or driving whilst exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit, or venereal and sexually transmitted disease or its sequelae.
7 Any charges in respect of services for beautification purposes, cosmetic surgery, hearing tests, routine blood tests, general check-ups, vaccinations or inoculations etc.
8 Dental treatment and oral surgery except for emergency treatment arising from an accident received during confinement. Follow up treatment from such hospital confinement relating to dental treatment or oral surgery shall not be covered.
9 All investigation, treatment and counseling services relating to maternity and its complications.
10 Treatment directly or indirectly arising from any psychotic, psychological, or psychiatric condition of any and all kinds, and any physiological or psychosomatic manifestations thereof.
11 Treatment or disability directly or indirectly arising from war (declared or undeclared), civil war, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities, rebellion, revolution, insurrection or military or usurped power.
